Job Summary:

As the Press Helper you assist the Press Person to keep the press running efficiently under their direction. The Press Helper will help with maintenance, cleanliness and stagging. Willing to follow directions and complete assigned tasks in instructed time.

As a member of the Litho Press Team the press helper works with other members to help achieve the sales and production goals of Printcraft. This position must obey the guidelines of the employee handbook and never allow an unsafe workplace. The Press Helper is responsible for supporting the company vision and mission.

Responsibility and Duties:

General and Administrative:

• Comply with all Printcraft and OSHA safety requirements.
• Follow system and procedures outlined in company manuals.
• Participate as a team player by supporting operations as needed.

Pressroom Responsibilities:

• Work with all Litho Pressroom employees
• Check the quality of the work coming off the press.
• Communicate inefficiencies to the General Manager, and CSR as necessary.
• Locate all materials needed for a project.
• Operate Feeder efficiently and as directed
• Adjust and maintain feeder in running order to enable press runs to be completed in scheduled time
• Stage and identify all stocks running on your shift prior to entering production
• Maintain ink fountains to appropriate levels
• Clean ink fountains and washup trays in time required by press person
• Mount plates onto press staging area
• Load paper into press for press runs
• Keep pressroom tidy, clean and organized
• Keep all chemical containers full and ready for use daily
• Learn to perform basic machine maintenance (mechanical experience helpful)
• Learn to check all jobs to proofs and/or previous printed samples.
• Willing to learn to make sure all jobs are printed to the correct color densities of ink.
• Mix inks when required.
• Ensure the Litho Pressroom is kept clean and organized.
• Make sure pressroom supplies are checked weekly.
• Perform routine maintenance of the press.
• Be familiar with all MSDS and where they are located.

Fiscal Responsibilities:

• Maintain good working relationships with vendors.
• Work with Production Manager to determine production standards for various operations.
• Research and recommend cost saving potential to management.

Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail, possessing a positive attitude and interested in preventing errors and solving problems.
• Must be a hard-working self-starter.
• Able to perform multiple tasks.

Working Conditions:

• Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
• Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
• Moderate computer use.
• Work area will have florescent lighting and temperature variations.
• Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
• Exposure to ink, chemical fumes and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
• Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity. May require overtime.
