Structural Design Engineer – Kiewit Nuclear Solutions
Position Overview:

We are seeking experienced Structural Design Engineers to join our team of engineers and designers that supports projects throughout the company. Responsibilities
- Lead and perform engineering design tasks for bridges, walls, culverts, inlet structures, and other standard structures.
- Develop scopes, schedules, and budgets for structural design deliverables.
- Apply engineering principles to meet technical requirements and develop effective solutions.
- Establish and implement project-specific design criteria.
- Manage design teams to ensure quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
- Balance risk, change, and project impacts to support overall project success.
- Provide technical reviews at conceptual and final design stages.
- Conduct interdisciplinary reviews for coordination and contract compliance.
- Lead technical meetings and discussions.
- Strategize and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Identify technical differentiators and contribute to key project pursuits.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance and meet deadlines timely.
- Work productively and perform work safely following all policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master's preferred). PE registration in at least one state is highly desirable.
- Experience: 10+ years in structural engineering design with emphasis in the nuclear sector. 5+ years leading or mentoring junior engineers. Experience in design-build transportation projects and alternative delivery methods. Familiarity with seismic design and analysis (preferred).
- Technical Expertise: Strong theoretical foundation in structural engineering principles. Proficient in equipment design using industry codes. Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes. Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent oral and written communication. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Detail-oriented and organized.
- Additional Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel as needed for business. Field roles only – may work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
Compensation
Base Compensation: $95,000/yr – $100,000/yr (Actual compensation subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
