About the role

Full-time, on-site position overseeing health, safety, and environmental activities for power delivery projects with a major utility company in the Denver, CO area. Based at the project site, this position monitors safety, leads inspections, and advises project teams. Must have strong HSE experience in infrastructure construction. Per diem provided for non-local candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Review design submittals for the integration of adequate safety-in-design features.
  • Provide project teams with health and safety resources to support the design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Evaluate health and safety risks with project managers. Evaluate the risk impacts and develop mitigation measures.
  • Continuously evaluate site supervision consultant health and safety performance and confirm required corrective actions have been taken. Ensure contractor health and safety programs comply with program requirements.
  • Attend and evaluate contractor induction and safety training programs.
  • Review health and safety reports prepared by the site supervision consultants and Program Manager safety officers. Investigate accidents, assess trends, and take corrective actions. Order safety work stoppages as necessary. Share lessons learned with program contractors.
  • Work with project teams and designers to solve difficult health and safety issues.
  • Prepare annual resourcing plans to support the project teams with required health and safety support.
  • Review health and safety information for the Program monthly progress reports. Advise Program leadership on results against established KPIs.
  • Conduct spot health and safety inspections.
  • Implement a monthly safety recognition program.
  • Make health and safety a top priority across all Program elements.
  • Support the Programs professional development initiatives with health and safety management instruction.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science (Loss Prevention, Risk Management, Fire Protection), or related field with significant HSE experience, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in infrastructure construction in HSE field.
  • Strong knowledge of Industry HSE Standards & Specifications.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices is required.
  • Proven ability to analyze information, identify problem trends, and develop/implement action plans to improve project performance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, evaluate solutions, and make sound recommendations.
  • Ability to set priorities that support the clients program objectives.

Compensation
