What Youll Do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers working on the Streaming Search and Analytics Platform.
• Shape the strategic vision for the platforms growth, focusing on query experimentation, data storage efficiency, performance optimization, and streaming query language development.
• Drive technical excellence while fostering a collaborative, innovative team culture.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align team priorities with company objectives.
• Make architectural decisions balancing technical excellence with business needs.
• Mentor and grow engineering talent within your team.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of a streaming platform that processes petabytes of data.
• Lead technical reviews and guide the development of new features and stability improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement in service efficiency to delight customers.
• Spearhead research and implementation of new ways for internal stakeholders and customers to query data efficiently.

What You'll Need

• 5+ years of engineering management experience, preferably leading teams building distributed systems.
• Strong technical background with experience designing, building, and operating scalable streaming systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed system architecture and performance optimization.
• Ability to work with geographically distributed teams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinking and ability to navigate ambiguity in large, open-ended problems.
• Track record of delivering complex technical projects.
• Strong people management skills with a focus on team development and mentorship.
• Experience with strongly-typed, object-oriented languages (e.g., C++, Java, C#, or similar).
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments and Git or similar version control workflows.

Bonus Points

• Experience with distributed applications built on various data stores (RDBMS, NoSQL, streaming solutions, etc.).
• Knowledge of RocksDB, Apache Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Background in C++ applications, especially with modern CMake.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Graphite, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Prior leadership in cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
• History of contributions to the open-source community.
• MBA or advanced technical degree.
