Job Description Summary:
The Training and Quality Control Coordinator measures, evaluates and records custodial services to ensure they meet or exceed industry standards. Conducts in-the-field training with staff in support of the department's service delivery goals.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that we deliver on our service promises and in helping us to deliver continuous improvements to the benefit of our customers and Facilities Management.

The core responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Conducts quality assurance inspections of space, products and performance. Develops an interval schedule of inspections for quality reviews and continuous improvement.
Identifies root causes of issues. Provides feedback, demonstrations and on-the-job training to address and correct these causes.
Updates databases, produces reports and monthly metrics.
Works directly with supervisors and employees to implement and conduct training programs. Provides general orientation and in-service training for the department.
Works collaboratively with other members of the leadership team.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of commercial cleaning practices, including floor and carpet care, cleaning products and equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (ex: APPA) and/or familiarity with custodial quality control processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Problem solving skills, i.e., the ability to identify issues and make sound, practical recommendations.
  • Interpersonal skills (workplace etiquette, listening skills, building consensus, positive attitude, etc.). Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds while demonstrating tact, diplomacy, respect, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as a facilitator, trainer or job coach.
  • Experience supervising custodial service delivery in a hospitality, medical or higher education environment.
  • Evaluating service delivery, contract performance, or performing regular quality control checks in a hospitality, medical or higher education environment.
  • Certification by a state or national professional development organization, such as IEHA, is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of custodial management tracking (CMS) software is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel (using database features and pivot tables) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to converse in Spanish is a plus.
Conditions of Employment
  • This position is non-exempt, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • This position is subject to extended hours to support the business needs of the department.
  • This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, and will require reporting to work when the university may be closed.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Successfully complete Van Safety Training within the first ninety days of employment, subject to availability. Comply with the university's Vehicle Use Policy.


Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience.
